Clubhouse Gallery from the United States opens its first exhibition in Korea, Illumination, at Frieze House Seoul from October 16 to November 6. The show presents paintings on the theme of light by four artists working in and around New York: Alicia Adamerovich, Piper Bangs, Julia Jo, and Caleb Hahne Quintana. In the same space, Italian design studio Giopato & Coombes presents Daydreams, an exhibition of lighting works. Visitors encounter light through two mediums: painting and luminaire.

Alicia Adamerovich paints the landscapes of the subconscious. She gives shape to inner states of mind through rough textures, organic forms, and the contrast of light and dark. Her spiral motifs and earthy palette create a sense of mystery. Piper Bangs, inspired by Renoir's soft rendering of skin, reinterprets Delacroix's Women of Algiers. With color and light that wrap around the figures' skin, she brings a fresh gaze to the original.

Works by Julia Jo and Caleb Hahne Quintana are also on view. All four artists explore light, yet each does so differently. The lighting pieces by Giopato & Coombes sit alongside the paintings, inviting comparison between how light behaves on canvas and inside glass.

The exhibition is open from 11 AM to 6 PM, closed on Sundays and Mondays. The venue is located at 17, Dongho-ro 15-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. Through the twin languages of painting and lighting, the show explores the possibilities of light. How will you experience it?
