Xander Zhou's S/S 2026 collection 《Fragmented Formality》 poses a provocative thesis: one body, multiple silhouettes. Deconstructing and reassembling traditional tailoring, the collection fragments and multiplies trench coats, suits, and capes, layering multiple structures onto a single form. Familiar classic pieces transform into unfamiliar sculptural language, and garments cease to be mere coverings—they become objects that expand the body itself.
Particularly striking are the sculptural headpieces that obscure the face. Five expressionless masks cascade in succession, erasing the wearer's identity and transforming the look into an autonomous work of art. Repetitive structures and exaggerated volumes visually extend the body's physical limits, demonstrating that fashion can evolve beyond the act of "wearing" into a state of "being." This reads as a metaphor for the digital age—multiple identities and the expanded self.
Since launching his brand in London in 2007, Xander Zhou has consistently twisted the traditional grammar of menswear. His work transcends simple avant-garde; it is a relentless experiment in how far contemporary fashion can expand. 《Fragmented Formality》 is his latest answer to that question. Taking the most conservative form—the suit—and reconstructing it into the most radical sculpture, this collection proves that fashion can still be a tool for thought. With Zhou, the boundaries keep shifting further outward.
