BA student @trust_in_grey from the Royal Academy of Antwerp is capturing attention with her second collection, titled "I am Love, not Temperance, so what if I unbalance?". Through pleating, multi-layering, meticulous tailoring, and deconstructed techniques, her pieces transcend mere garments to become sculptural narratives in fabric and form.
The collection explores the volatile duality of love: a soft, healing emotion that can simultaneously serve as a weapon of self-destruction. The designer visualizes this emotional spectrum as intense and consuming as the color red that symbolizes love itself—violent, magnetic, and all-encompassing. The juxtaposition of exposed skeletal frameworks with organically flowing fabrics embodies this contradictory nature with striking clarity.
Particularly captivating is a structural piece featuring a massive spiral framework that envelops the body. Hard metal or wooden frames meet delicate pleated textiles, creating a unique silhouette where architectural sculpture and fashion fluidity coexist.
