When Hair Becomes a Silent Chronicle of Our Lives

머리카락이 기억하는 순간들, 패션이 되다

NABA fashion student Viktor Garbeshkov explores human experience and tragedy through the unique medium of hair in his collection 'Kosmat'. The work presents a surreal dimension where 18th-century tailoring meets futurism. Unlike our skin, hair cannot heal itself, yet it serves as a silent observer, recording every moment of our lives.

The collection features corsets with 18th-century detailing, motorcycle-inspired elements, second-skin bodysuits, and quilted nude-toned dresses and jackets. What stands out are the hair plugs attached to select garments—a visual device that materializes the stories our hair holds. The juxtaposition of romantic and raw elements creates a powerful impression.

The most striking piece, 'Wreckage Wear', is a molded, alien-like leather bodysuit with hair-plugged legs. It evokes a cosmic femininity tinged with peculiarity, offering viewers a unique sensorial experience. Through this work, Garbeshkov begins to untangle our feelings—both literally and metaphorically.

This experimental approach by an emerging designer demonstrates that fashion can transcend clothing to become a medium for exploring the essence of human existence. Placing hair as the central mediator through which inner body and mind are reflected in outer physical form is both fresh and philosophical. The collection challenges us to reconsider the relationship between our physical traces and the memories they carry.
