These oversized orchids aren't real — they're sculptures

Montréal-based artist Marie Eve creates oversized flower sculptures under the name Fleur Éternelle. Her work magnifies the intricate details of orchids — the delicate spots, thin veins, and subtle color shifts across petals — as if pulling them out from under a microscope and into real space.

The magic lies in the scale. An orchid larger than your hand, water droplets clinging to massive petals — familiar plants transform into something entirely unfamiliar. This is why the artist herself calls them "flower sculptures," not reproductions. The act of encountering a small, everyday detail at human scale is central to the experience.

Have you ever looked at a flower this closely? The images in the carousel may look like real blooms, but they're all handmade sculptures. The mottled surface of the pink and white orchid, the droplets caught mid-bead, the foam-like texture of the lilac petals — details that become strange simply by being seen up close.

If you stood face to face with one of these sculptures, which part would you look at first?
