Media artist Jung Yeondoo, trained in sculpture, has built a distinctive artistic world that crosses cooking, dance, installation, and video. His works exist unpolished and unadapted, suspended in frozen time. Letting go of gravity and perspective, his photographs capture the precise moment when children's imagination first encounters the world.
The Wonderland series (2004), created during three months of collaboration with kindergarten children, stands as proof of that purity. In this project, which transformed children's drawings into actual photographs, Jung imposed neither adult logic nor aesthetics. In 'Wonderland, Afternoon Nap,' mother and daughter form a single universe, revealing love not yet divided and a gaze not yet learned.
His work is filled with scenes where dream logic arrives before explanation. He quietly offers adults a way to see the world again through a child's eyes. Jung Yeondoo's art reminds us how profoundly art can originate from pure imagination, untainted by convention or compromise.
