Not long ago, Hussein Chalayan drew attention as the collaboration partner for Kolon Sport's 50th anniversary. He shared the story of the collaboration with Kolon Sport in an interview with <PAP>.
The most important part of this collaboration's design, he noted, was that it took as its motif an astronaut symbolizing the reversal of time. Hidden within was an intriguing story: this astronaut falls into the sea, picks up traditional Korean clothing, and begins applying it to his own garments. He said he expressed this journey by weaving Korean details into a water-related life jacket.
Hussein Chalayan, who developed an interest in technical clothing during his time at Puma and so wanted to work with Kolon Sport, said his high standards for the work and his belief that technical clothing can be creative and functional too align with Kolon Sport. Glad to have gained a chance to learn more about Korea along with the strong quality of this collaboration, he leaves us hoping to see wonderful collaborations with other Korean brands as well.
