Tailoring Tastes Better Torn Apart

UJOH designer Mitsuru Nishizaki takes tailoring apart. Ask him why he deconstructs perfectly good jackets, and the answer is simple: if you want to truly understand something, you have to tear it down first. As a trained pattern cutter, tailoring is both his subject of disassembly and his material for reassembly. He breaks down traditional structures and slips in the relaxed ease of workwear and streetwear.

The resulting Spring/Summer 2027 collection is light and free. With climate change bringing hotter summers, the need for lighter clothing has grown, and Nishizaki addressed this through tailoring. The structure is loose, yet UJOH's signature sharpness remains intact. A striped shirt has its collar twisted, and a jacket has one sleeve swapped to black.

UJOH has always been deeply engaged with tailoring. Nishizaki learned traditional cutting techniques, but he doesn't follow them by the book. Instead, he deconstructs and reconstructs to create new silhouettes. This season, he pulled the comfort of everyday wear into tailoring. The functionality of workwear and the freedom of streetwear blended into jackets and trousers.
