Skreem goes by one name, though her birth name is Kiersten Harvey. The Atlanta-born makeup artist now works out of LA and runs her own beauty brand, SKREEM Beauty. She defines her style as unorthodox, glamorous and camp. As a child star in the singing group L.O.U.D, she fell for the makeup artists who got her ready. By around 14, she was recreating their looks at home.
In her hands, lips turn into animal prints and cheeks are topped with neon spikes and chunky charms. There's rarely a set plan. She reads the person in front of her—their outfit, the music in the room, the conversation, even their aura—and freestyles from there. This improvisational approach is what makes her a favourite among celebrities.
Her connection with North West began just as suddenly. A call from Kim Kardashian's team asking if she could fly to Paris within 24 hours brought her to the Vetements SS27 show. Rather than going for shock value, she took North's love of piercings and gothic moods and made what was already hers even more vivid. When Kim dressed as North for Halloween, Skreem created that makeup transformation too.
For Skreem, beauty means freedom. It's a way to express yourself through glam without saying a word. Doechi's pink look on the Daisy Chain Fields stage was also born from Skreem's hands. Her work reads less like makeup and more like a statement. How will you paint today's mood on your face?
