Seongah Yoon, a student in the BA Womenswear program at London College of Fashion (LCF), is garnering attention for her distinctive approach that explores the boundaries between structure and material. Drawing inspiration from European history, aesthetic codes, and contemporary subcultures, her work creates garments that feel simultaneously familiar and unfamiliar, theatrical yet grounded.
Yoon's signature lies in deconstructive techniques. She manipulates asymmetrical lines, elastic structures, raw finishes, and exaggerated proportions to create garments that appear to exist in a state of transformation. When 19th-century corsets, tulle, and satin collide with the moods of punk, gothic, and industrial influences, discomfort is transformed into a form of elegance.
What she calls 'Uneasy Elegance' reflects her constant exploration of identity and emotion. This aesthetic represents a nameless drama of identity unfolding through form—a magnetic tension that is both self-contained and fluid. As Yoon continues her studies at LCF, the fashion community eagerly anticipates how her evolving vision will contribute new discourse to the industry. Her visual language speaks to a generation seeking authenticity in contradiction, beauty in imperfection, and identity in perpetual transformation.
