Saint Laurent S/S 2027 Redefines the Power Suit as Sensuality

Anthony Vaccarello rewrote the language of suiting in Saint Laurent's Men's Spring Summer 2027 collection. The broad shoulders, sharp lapels, and low button stance of 1980s power suiting remain, yet once the shirt and tie are removed, the garments cease to signify authority and begin to speak of sensuality. Padded, horizontally extended shoulder lines enlarge the torso, while elongated lapels trace a deep V-line that exposes skin. This approach borrows the power symbols of executive suiting while stripping away decoration and exaggeration, resulting in a quieter, colder form of power dressing.

Another axis of the collection is the collision between sportswear and tailoring. Lightweight, rustling technical blousons are fully tucked into high-waisted trousers, concentrating the outerwear's volume above the waist. Deep pleats in the trousers continue the structure below the hips, proposing a new layering grammar in which sports outerwear is used as a dress-shirt-like element. The decadent color palette of the 1970s—neon green, metallic silver, deep brown—is layered over these structural silhouettes, adding visual tension.

For this season's menswear, Vaccarello shifted the question from 'what to wear under the clothes' to 'what to remove.' Where shirts and ties once sat, skin now enters, and the suit is no longer armor but a frame that reveals the body. This is not merely an aesthetic of exposure but a compression of two concepts—authority and sensuality—into a single silhouette, articulated in Saint Laurent's distinct language. Unveiled during Paris Fashion Week, this collection deconstructs traditional codes of menswear and is being recognized as an important indicator of the direction for men's fashion in the 2027 season.
