Once a celebration of free expression and satire, this carnival was banned by authorities for its defiant spirit and eventually faded into history. Taha Mert resurrects the forgotten festival's ethos through the language of contemporary streetwear.
The collection unfolds around three central themes: visibility, individuality, and disguise. The layered jacket worn by the model evokes the ornate costumes of medieval carnivals, yet incorporates shearling collars, graphic panels, and modern material combinations that inject street culture sensibility. The distinctive hat ornament and exaggerated silhouette appear to be a contemporary interpretation of carnival masks.
