When Fossils Meet the Future: LCF Graduate's 3D-Printed Footwear

3D 프린팅으로 되살린 문명의 기억, 신진 풋웨어 디자이너의 실험

London College of Fashion MA Footwear student @ahtraga.morf has unveiled a striking Unit2 project collection that merges fossil-like aesthetics with cutting-edge 3D printing technology. The collection explores a speculative narrative: how humanity would reinvent exploration and tool creation if civilization were to restart from scratch.

Starting from a primitive design perspective, the designer examined how local materials would be used to craft footwear and how tools evolve toward sophistication over time. The juxtaposition of dark brown textured leather uppers and ivory-toned 3D-printed soles creates an archaeological quality, bridging modern fabrication methods with historical references. The intricate, organic patterns visible on the sole showcase details only achievable through additive manufacturing, blending handcrafted texture with digital precision.

This project exemplifies how fashion design can transcend mere wearability to become a medium for narrative and philosophical inquiry. By treating footwear as an artifact of imagined futures and forgotten pasts, the designer challenges conventional boundaries between craft, technology, and storytelling in contemporary fashion education.
