Summer Sonic, Japan's largest music festival, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Running three days from August 14 to 16 simultaneously at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo and Expo '70 Commemorative Park in Osaka, this urban festival has kept its roots in rock since its launch in 2000 while embracing hip-hop, electronic, J-pop and idol acts, cementing its place as the summer stage that defines Asia. This year marks an unusual expansion to three days, with the Tokyo and Osaka lineups staggered by one day, allowing fans to catch the same artist in both cities. Over the past few years, the presence of Korean artists on these stages has shifted noticeably.
