EXO's '94-line members Kai and Sehun are officially debuting as a new unit. The duo is set to make their formal unit debut this December. They've been dropping meaningful hints through Kai's solo concert and 'KAIseLog' last year, and now that promise is becoming reality. Same-age units are not uncommon in K-pop, but EXO's '94-line carries extra weight since both members have built solid solo careers.
Kai has released three mini-albums, establishing himself as a solo artist. Sehun also has unit experience through EXO-SC with Chanyeol. Both are known for their dance prowess and stage presence, so the new unit's performances are naturally expected to take center stage. What musical direction they'll choose and what concept they'll present to fans remains under wraps.
EXO will hold encore concerts at Seoul's KSPO DOME from November 6 to 8. The unit news dropped just ahead of these shows, amplifying fan anticipation. The possibility of a surprise unit stage or teaser during the encore cannot be ruled out. EXO-Ls are in for an exceptionally warm year-end.
Unit formations represent a new intersection between group activities and individual careers. The strategy of reconfiguring member combinations while maintaining group identity works especially well for long-running teams. Kai and Sehun's '94-line unit now stands at the forefront of that experiment. What kind of music do you expect from this pairing?
