One Thousand Windows, One New York

New York at night is not defined by its skyline, but by thousands of illuminated windows. Over five years, photographer Dave Krugman documented 1,000 lit windows to complete his project . Instead of capturing entire buildings, he collected individual windows, reimagining the city as a vast grid and living pattern.

Krugman's windows function as the smallest units composing the urban landscape. Different hues, temperatures, and traces of life within each frame converge to form New York itself. The 1,000 windows can be endlessly recombined, revealing the city's constantly evolving character.
