Central Saint Martins student designer Henri has unveiled his collection VIGEÉ, which approaches the body as sculptural form. The collection centers on the concept of transforming wounds into ornamentation, presenting pain and pleasure as inseparable experiences. Torn T-shirts and biker wear coexist with Victorian lacework, creating a collision of contrasting aesthetics that define the collection's visual language.
The juxtaposition of silk chiffon dresses and spiral-cut trousers maximizes visual tension through opposing textures. Henri reinterprets the body not as a mere canvas but as an architectural structure, proving that fashion can express the duality of sensation beyond simple beauty. Each piece interacts with the wearer's body, achieving completion through this dynamic relationship.
The standout element is Henri's collaboration with footwear brand Rombaut. The shoes combine spiked heels with the Dysphoria base, visually embodying the collection's core message: "Pain and pleasure are inseparable." This design forces wearers to simultaneously experience discomfort and beauty, starkly revealing fashion's inherent duality. The footwear challenges conventional notions of wearability while making a bold conceptual statement.
Henri's work carries forward Central Saint Martins' experimental spirit while posing new questions about the relationship between body and fashion. The VIGEÉ collection demonstrates that fashion can serve as a medium for capturing the complexity of human experience, transcending its function as mere clothing. It confirms the bold vision of a next-generation designer unafraid to explore the darker, more paradoxical aspects of beauty and adornment.
