Ever taken a selfie in an airplane lavatory? The 0.5x aerial shot and the mirror selfie are old news by now. If you are after a selfie angle that will not be forgotten, look to photographer Adam Powell, who reinterprets the most ordinary scenes with an inventive eye.
He has recently been posting a running series of airplane selfies framed in unexpected ways, serving up the everyday, humor, and a slightly irreverent streak all at once. Toilets, seats, and sinks become unlikely props, sharpening the uncommon gaze and wit that run through his photographs. More than a simple prank, the series captures the tension and laughter that unfold between the constraints of public space and private moments. Through his images, viewers come to see the familiar experience of flying anew and encounter a modern satire where artistic sense and humor combine.
