COCKROACHES UNDER MY SKIN

By PAP Magazine Editorial

Grainy black-and-white film renders the body as an anonymous silhouette, neither fully human nor wholly abstract. An oversized black jacket with exaggerated shoulder construction wraps the torso like armor, juxtaposed against bare legs and glossy ankle boots that anchor the frame in deliberate exposure. The face is fragmented—covered by a hand in one shot, shadowed beneath a wide-brimmed hat in another—while harsh directional light carves a second figure onto the wall behind. In the close-up, a high leather collar and the brim's clean geometry summon noir archetypes, but the gaze beneath is wary, destabilized. True to the editorial's title, the images locate discomfort not in gore but in texture: the reflective sheen of patent surfaces, the matte opacity of wool, the skin rendered almost porous under grain. Light refuses to soften; it isolates, leaving half the body to dissolve into shadow.
