SPORTMAX's Spring/Summer 2027 collection began with a reality that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore: rising temperatures. Presented at Milan's Palazzo Litta, the collection explored a "longing for lightness" through sleeveless outerwear, barely visible silk organza and translucent layers that created space between the body and the clothes. Different shades of organza were layered together or wrapped over lace-embroidered cotton slip dresses, turning lightness itself into a silhouette. Both construction and material reflected the reality of extreme heat.
Rather than romanticizing summer, SPORTMAX translated the reality into what we might actually wear in the seasons ahead. The transparent organza does more than look light—it creates channels for air to pass through. Layering forms pockets of air between skin and fabric, regulating body temperature. Beauty and function working in tandem.
The accessories in this collection also stand out. Ring-shaped objects and bracelets made from clear acrylic drew inspiration from ice. Their melting forms look as though coolness itself has been fastened to the wrist. Not just the clothes, but the accessories too are facing down the heat.
Faced with a hotter season, SPORTMAX chose to go as light as possible. The collection addressed the heavy subject of climate change through the medium of clothing—lightly, yet seriously.
