HOMEBODIES

HOMEBODIES stages the enclosed self as theatrical subject, opening with a figure whose face disappears entirely beneath a folded paper-bag hood. She wears a blush-pink and grey romantic dress with ruffled tiers, standing beside a white plinth crowned with vivid red ranunculus; warm amber light pools around her, casting domesticity as ceremony. The second frame shifts to a mint-green ground where a chartreuse lace top meets ice-blue opaque tights, the subject kneeling in a pose that quotes mid-century housewife tableaux yet subverts it with a brown handbag and stack of magazines as props. Styling by Gioia Cheung and Coco rejects loungewear cliché in favour of textural layering—crushed cotton, sheer veils, glossy hosiery—that transforms the body at home into a performer on stage. Credits include Wing Lam, Cheng Po Ki, Ruby Kh Chan, and Jack Hackett; together they reframe pandemic-era isolation not as retreat but as a site of quiet pageantry. The colour palette—rose, steel-blue, chartreuse, amber—refuses naturalism, insisting instead that the interior is always already a set, and solitude a costume we wear with intention.
