Roses to deaden the clods as they fall

Against a stark black void, translucent fabric masks sculpted from gauze and netting encase each face, their knotted cords trailing like ceremonial bridles into the darkness. The wardrobe is a study in layered neutrals — ribbed low-rise knit trousers hug the lower body while cropped mesh and shirred jersey tops expose bands of skin at the midriff. Hard directional light carves out the composition from the left, isolating the figures as though on a stage, their limbs interlocked in poses that evoke both collaboration and struggle. The masks themselves are structural interventions, their hand-twisted tethers terminating in frayed horsehair-like tails that float weightlessly. Every garment shares the same desaturated spectrum of cream, sand, grey, and chalk white, so that texture — rib, mesh, jersey, shirring — becomes the only language of differentiation. The entire tableau reads as a hybrid of ritual performance and contemporary dance, bodies transformed into sculptural objects through avant-garde styling that refuses ornament in favour of form and tension.
