Smooth Skin, Folded Belly, Bodies With Attitude

Poi, a 3D artist who has collaborated with Rosalía, Ice Spice, and others, paints women with skin as smooth as plastic. Long kept from being herself by anxiety and depression, she describes her work as female characters with attitude. For her, these characters embody the strength and attitude she wants to have in life. They are extensions of emotion, muses, friends. She works in a hybrid method, mixing 3D sculpting with digital illustration, firming up the form inside the computer and then layering color and light onto it by hand.

The extreme angles and exaggerated bodies come from the Baroque and Mannerist painting she loves. Above all, she renders the folded belly, the ample body, the things always smoothed away, without hiding a single bit of it.
