Ceramic studio NIGHTFRUITI shapes forms that ceramics never had. Its shoe series runs through every type, ballet flats, mules, heels and sandals, carrying lace frills and ribbons exactly as they appear in life, yet the heel and the sole are ceramic too. The briefs plate works the same way. The elastic gathers, the contrast band and the small ribbon tied at the center are sculpted in clay and flattened into a dish. What rests on it is not a body but a sweet dessert, or perhaps a savory meal.
Form fills the place the original use has left, and that form in turn calls up a new use. Only when the object that sat closest to the body loses the body do we finally see its shape. A shoe was a form before it was a tool for walking, and a pair of briefs was a wide structure woven of gathers and bands before it was cloth for covering. What remains is form itself. How would you put this shoe to use?
