PUMA has teamed up with designer JiyongKim to reimagine the CELL Geo, launching November 7. The collaboration applies aged fabrics and distressed details inspired by the natural effects of time and weather, following JiyongKim's philosophy of turning weathering into design. At first glance they look naturally worn in, but they're actually brand new.
The most striking element is the contrast. Weathered textures meet the futuristic CELL heel unit on a single silhouette. It's where time-worn patterns pulled into design collide with technical form. This combination mirrors JiyongKim's longstanding practice of drawing inspiration from old papers.
The limited-edition black colorway will be available exclusively through JiyongKim's official stores and the pop-up event. On the same day, November 7, a one-day pop-up will take place at Arumjigi in Seochon, Seoul. Visitors can also view the old paper archives and design process behind JiyongKim's work.
Time usually wears sneakers down. But this time, time became the starting point of design. What kind of time has shaped your shoes?
