London-based designer Mingze Sun has unveiled his new collection NOITALIHINA, a title derived by reversing the word "Annihilation." The collection explores the physicalization of multiple personalities discovered within people's anxiety, visualizing mental states through the keywords of distortion, sharpness, and imbalance. This ambitious project translates the fragmented psyche of modern individuals into wearable structures that embody internal division.
"I think people's increasingly depressed emotions are distorting their mentality, which affects their appearance," Sun explains. "I translated these emotions into different structures across various categories." The collection manifests as something that takes root from mentality and eventually materializes, representing the designer's resistance to and merger with his other self. Sun aimed to preserve and present the visual moment of this internal struggle, creating garments that serve as physical evidence of psychological conflict.
Art direction and photography were handled by Tui Carolister, with Sun himself modeling alongside Zhang01 and Gabriele Venturii. The collection features dramatic silhouettes in black satin, with exaggerated hoods and voluminous draping that evoke the eruption of inner turmoil into external form. The sculptural pieces challenge conventional fashion boundaries, positioning mental health discourse at the intersection of conceptual design and wearable art. Through NOITALIHINA, Mingze Sun offers a provocative meditation on anxiety as both destructive force and creative catalyst.
