Something stands out even before the phone itself in KiiiKiii's latest concept images for their third mini album [WhyKiiiKiii]. Ritter Studios, a Germany-based design label, created a series of custom phone cases for the group, introducing not just custom colors but an entirely new shape. Rather than simply tracing the rectangular outline of a smartphone, the cases extend beyond the device with sweeping curves and open spaces, turning an everyday accessory into an object of its own.
The design leaves the screen and camera exposed while building a completely new silhouette around the phone. Ritter Studios describes the project as "custom colors + one brand new shape." For KiiiKiii, the studio customised shades including blue and pink. The approach treats the case not as a protective shell but as a sculptural element in its own right.
More than simply dressing up a smartphone, these cases change the shape of the device itself. They break away from the fixed rectangle and reconstruct it through curves and voids. The functional boundary between accessory and form is blurred.
Ritter Studios' work, seen in KiiiKiii's hands, shows how far an everyday accessory can stretch. What shape would suit your smartphone?
