Wednesday night, 8 p.m. 82MAJOR appeared in front of the Sora Tower at Cheonggye Plaza, one day after releasing their second single HEAT. The setlist included the title track Like Fire and wyd?. Like Fire pushes performance to its limit over hard beats and synths; wyd? shifts the flow with pastel-bounce hip-hop. This was the song order confirmed on site, not from advance promotion.
Cheonggye Plaza sits midway between Gwanghwamun and Dongdaemun, one of the few public plazas in downtown Seoul where open-air performances can happen. The space in front of Sora Tower is a crossing point for evening commuters on weekdays. 82MAJOR staged their Pal-i Club fighters' round right in the center. Pal-i Club is the official name of the group's fandom.
This single HEAT is the group's second single album. Like Fire lives up to its name with a structure that ramps up heat. Synthesizers and hard beats lay the foundation, and performance stacks on top. wyd? carries the label of pastel-tone bounce hip-hop. The two tracks differ in color, but on stage they connected as a single flow.
The Cheonggye Plaza performance was not a surprise drop. 82MAJOR set up the stage on Wednesday night—the day after the album release—in front of Sora Tower. They completed both tracks before an audience mixing evening passersby and fandom. The full performance video is available on the PAP account. If you ran into a stage like this on your way home, would you stop?
