THE MANY FACES OF ALICE

By PAP Magazine Editorial

On high-contrast black-and-white film, a single figure splinters into multiple personas. The first silhouette stands in profile wearing a voluminous black tulle gown, its layered sheer fabric cascading from a strapless corset bodice all the way to the floor, while a dramatic feather headpiece fans out asymmetrically from the nape of the neck. Slicked hair and bare shoulders offset the sheer weight of the sculptural skirt, which pools in ripples of shadow at the base. The second frame shifts into frontal confrontation: arms extended horizontal, black fabric unfurls mid-air like wings caught in motion, the body held in arrested stillness against a pale void. The polished studio lighting carves out every contour—cheekbones, clavicles, the sharp line where fabric meets skin—lending the series an archival, almost cinematic austerity. Movement and stillness collide across these tableaux, refusing the innocence of the title's fairy-tale echo and instead conjuring identity as performance, multiplicity, and metamorphosis.
