Beneath the red-and-white striped canopy of a circus tent, two clowns prepare for a final performance. Their faces are inscribed with dark fractured lines and pink blush, punctuated by scarlet lips and clusters of pearls that blur the line between tragedy and carnival. One figure drapes herself in a pink ruffled blouse and black veil, while the other layers a cream frilled collar over leopard-print fabric in a gesture of baroque excess. The backdrop of crimson velvet drapes, a tarnished chandelier, and a harlequin doll on the floor evokes the atmosphere of an abandoned theatre. Light spills warm and grainy across the scene, suspending every element in the interlude of an unfinished requiem.
