Confronting the unexpected illness is the setback that humans suffer from the impermanent life. My father was a doctor. When he left us he also left behind many medical projection slides. All these years passed with my unbalanced emotions from my father’s death growing to this seemingly fragile void that is life. As inspired, my collection consists of “hands” as symbols for my struggles and my shadows, combining with medical attire and Japanese kimono to represent the spirit of Japanese wabi-sabi. By making this collection, I hope to become able to cope with the imperfections and impermanence of life.
